Kia’s Massive Electric SUV: EV9
Kia announced that it will globally launch the EV9 at the end of March. The announcement also revealed some features of the EV9. As the largest model on the Hyundai-Kia Group’s E-GMP platform to date, the EV9 carries traces of Kia’s new design philosophy. Let’s take a closer look at the model, which is planned to be produced with power-battery units similar to those in the Kia EV6.
Featuring vertically oriented front and rear headlights reminiscent of Cadillac’s SUV models, the EV9 bears a resemblance to Kia’s SUVs with a broad butterfly glass line that rises towards the back, similar to the Kia EV6. The EV9 boasts hidden door handles, sharp design lines, angular fender protectors, a sloping rear roofline, and a large rear spoiler, giving it a sporty appearance. The high and broad front hood adds a powerful touch to this clean design. The EV9’s unique Kia design is further enhanced by its massive aerodynamic wheels and silver-colored protections beneath the bumpers, contributing to the vehicle’s overall elegance with harmonious color combinations.
In the interior design, reminiscent of the EV6, a combination of simplicity and modern technology is presented. The 4-spoke sporty steering wheel, the seamlessly integrated digital instrument panel and multimedia system, hidden multimedia shortcut buttons, a high center console, and premium textures contribute to a sense of sophistication. The rear section of the vehicle is designed based on user feedback.
Available in 6- and 7-seater configurations, the EV9 aims to provide a more comfortable boarding and exiting experience for passengers in the third row in its 6-seater model, where the second-row seats can rotate 180 degrees. The EV9, equipped with a “Relaxation” mode for the first and second-row seats, considers the comfort of passengers in the second and third rows by providing charging ports, cup holders, and climate control vents.
